Question by photoquilty – mom of 2: Who’s your favorite crime writer?
Who’s your favorite mystery/crime/detective writer?
Mine used to be Patricia Cornwall, but lately I prefer Jonathan Kellerman. I think James Patterson is the worst writer out there. He can’t put an attractive sentence together. He’s like a 14 year old writing for school.
PD James is pretty awesome, come to think of it. Adam Dagliesh, right? And she wrote Children of Men, I believe, too, which was amazing. Good call!
Sapphire19: A trilogy is a grouping of THREE.

Nora Roberts
Agatha Christie.
I agree with you about Patterson. My favorite is Nero Wolfe.
P.D. James – her erudition and use of the English language are unmatched.
Nora Roberts (D.J Robb) has a trilogy of crime books with New York cop, Eve Dallas set in 2060. It’s a good futuristic suspense series, but it reads more like a never-ending mulder & scully episode, and Dallas acts too masculine and aggressive for a woman! (i think) Also, there’s tons of sex references. There are 19 titles to choose from, all ending with ….’in death’ eg. ‘glory in death’, ‘rapture in death’. The only one I’ve read is ‘Innocent in death’ which is about a teacher being murdered by poison in his coffee.
Agatha Christie
Ian Rankin. They are dark, yet also sometimes funny, down to earth yet full of imagination, and I think Inspector Rebus is one of the best detectives ever thought up.
Agatha Christie is the Queen of Crime, and always will be. Nobody else can touch her.
That’s it, it’s official.
We can’t be friends.
LOVE James Patterson.
*sigh*
